SUNDAY - 3:00 PM

It is with regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2023 SDGA Men's & Women's Amateur Championship. All options were considered in depth by the SDGA Staff and reviewed by the Association’s Board of Directors. We exhausted every available option that would have allowed us to complete 36 holes and retain the integrity of the event. Unfortunately, between course conditions, continuing rain, and course availability, there was not a viable option to complete the event within a reasonable time window. As we considered all options and wrestled with this decision, we consulted with the USGA and numerous other qualified tournament administrators for their input.

The SDGA will be issuing full refunds to all Amateur Championship participants, and we are working on a plan to award SoDak Cup points to participants based on participation in the event. Those who paid cart fees to Willow for rounds that they did not play can text 605-546-7775 and we will issue you a refund. Please leave your name and number of rounds that you need to be refunded.

Once again, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

SUNDAY - 9:30 AM

Play has been cancelled for the day. Several holes remain unplayable and rain is predicted to continue throughout the day. The tournament will now be conducted over 36 holes. The morning round from Saturday remains valid, and we are working with the course to find the earliest time where we can resume play of round 2. This depends both on when the course will be playable and when the course has availability.

We will let players know as soon as we can when the second round will resume, but not before 6 PM tonight. We need to continue to monitor playability throughout the day.

Thank you for your patience.

SUNDAY - 7:00 AM

Thank you for your patience as we deal with significant weather issues. The goal of any Championship is to play all of the scheduled holes, so we will do everything possible to play 54 holes. Because of severity of the delay, some players will not be able to play 54 holes. After 36 holes, there will be a cut in the Men's Championship to the low 40 and ties plus anyone within 10 shots of the 36 hole lead. All 22 women will play 54 holes if possible.

Based on conditions this morning, we are further delaying the start of play until 11 AM. This is the latest we can start to have a chance to play the third round later today. For the third round, we will utilize a shotgun start as soon as the final group finishes play. Players making the cut should be on site at 3 PM to get warmed up and be ready to play. We estimate the third round shotgun start time to be between 3:30 and 4:00.

If we cannot resume play at 11 AM, the Championships will be conducted over 36 holes. We will update you at 9:45 if the 11 AM start is not feasible. Continue to look for text messages and monitor this page for any changes.
